Subject: Tablesaw Blade caution

Hey all

I had a little wake-me-up about an hour ago, and thought i'd pass it along.

I was ripping some 3/4" oak, and my saw blade came apart. It was a 7 1/4"Pirrana, 5/8" arbour with only about 10 hours on it, and best I can figure is a flaw or tiny crack that let go, centrifical force did the rest.

Not just a couple thrown teeth, the whole thing literly blew in bits (3 big pieces and a lot of shrapnel). the oak and the saw took all the pieces (with a bit of luck I can salvage the motor :-( ), but if it had been 1/2" pine or ribsticks or something they would have gone right thru and I'd be sitting getting a facefull of steel removed right now.

Anybody using one of these baldes, inspect it good before ya fire it up again. might save ya some discomfort, or spend 20 bucks on a new blade.

I am going to send the wreckage back to the factory so they can take a look at it, and i'll pass on what they say (knowing corporate Canada its gonna be here, have a free replacement, but its worth a try)

Mike
